Photography has been a natural growth of my artistic talents for many years.
I grew up under the influence of two artistic parents who enjoyed spending time sharing their passion for drawing and design with me.
Through my grade school years, I was always drawing something in class. Whether it was a binder cover for my favorite subjects or a poster for the upcoming high school dance, I used every opportunity to sketch, design and draw a wide variety of images. It was during my high school years that I was introduced to photography, and was given my first camera, a Kodak Instamatic, by my grandparents.
Leaving high school, I attended university with the intent of heading back to school as an art teacher. Along the way, I became more interested in design, illustration and photography and redirected myself to the 2 year Advertising Art course at Red River Community College. It was at this time, that I was smitten by the photography bug, and recognized this is where my real passion came alive.
After graduation from Red River, I spent several years in the advertising arena, and was able to whet my appetite for photography in numerous projects. Inevitably, I came to a fork in the road to my career. I “zigged” where I should have “zagged”, and ended up shifting to the “corporate” world where I spent more time designing, renovating and maintaining office facilities, and less time exploring the world from behind my cameras.
It wasn’t until years later, after the changing of ownership with the company that I had spent 20 years with, and a major downsizing of their staff, that I was determined to re-ignite my passion for photography and use the God-given talents that I had been blessed with years ago. The artistic flame will not be denied, so it was back to school for me! After graduating from the Diploma Course in Professional Photography at PrairieView, my passion for creating and capturing images has never been stronger.
With renewed interest, determination, and the constant support of my loving wife, I am working in the field that I have always loved. I continually look for opportunities to add to my photographic experience, adding ways to increase my knowledge and fine tune my abilities. It has been quite a ride up till now.
Please join me as I share the passion that I have for these images with you and feel free to contact me to discuss your specific photographic needs.
